High School Years
The High School Years at St Paul’s includes Years 7 to 12 with around 110 students in each Year group.
We strive to develop students in a holistic framework and operate activities based on the fundamental concepts of academic excellence, leadership and teamwork, opportunities and choices, and service. The Christian values statements of St Paul’s give underlying meaning to this framework.
There are many opportunities for both learning and practising leadership skills. Formally the prefect system in both the Middle (Year 9) and Senior (Year 11/12) years are the prime student leadership roles. However, outdoor education, peer mentoring and mediation, co-curricular activities and service learning projects are just a few examples of the many other opportunities available.
The concept of active and meaningful service to others is an integral part of the High School House System as we seek to develop a sense of community and internationalism in all students. There are 6 Houses at St Paul’s Grammar School – Castlereagh, Claremont, Cornwallis, Melville, Strathdon and Wilberforce. Each House is under the leadership of a Head of House who is responsible for the care of students during their time at St. Paul’s Grammar School. The Head of House is assisted by a Senior Tutor and six House Tutors who have the day to day oversight of the students’ activities and development.
