The St Paul’s Grammar School community has been deeply saddened by the recent tragic bushfires in Victoria and have commenced a long term project of supporting some of the victims. We are providing financial assistance to students from Plenty Valley Christian College who have lost their homes in Kinglake. The school property itself has not been touched by the bushfires – it is about 30km away. However, 35 of their students live in Kinglake which as you would all know from media reports was severely impacted. Eleven families from the school comprising 17 students have lost their homes and all their possessions.
This week donations have been sought from students, parents and staff from St Paul’s, resulting in over $8,000 being collected so far. Further fundraising activities, including a mufti day and barbeque are being organised to increase the level of financial support. This money is being used to provide new school uniforms and school books for the 17 students.
It is heartening to see the generosity of our school community towards others in times of crisis. Please contact the school on 02 4777 4888 or email info@stpauls.nsw.edu.au if you wish to support this effort.
